What is a distributed system?

It is called distributed system or distributed system.

A distributed system is a system that is a group of computers located independently at a single location or at different locations.

These groups of computers work together to complete a task or achieve a goal.

It is not necessary that all the computers are connected at the same place, despite being separate, all the computers are connected together and used as a single system.

All the computers present in one place are connected by LAN i.e. Local Area Network, whereas computers at different places are connected with each other by WAN i.e. Wide Area Network.

In this system, distributed systems work by joining a network by software to complete the task.

Various devices may be connected within a distributed system, such as Mainframes, Personal Computers, Servers, Virtual Machines or Mini Computers, etc.

Types of Distributed Systems

There are mainly three types of distributed systems.

Distributed Information Systems:- In this, information is distributed among different servers through several communication models.

Distributed Pervasive Systems:- Embedded ECG monitors, sensors, mobile devices and computer devices are used in this.

Distributed Computing Systems:- In this, computers in the network communicate through message passing.

What is an example of a distributed system?

Distributed system is used in many places, some examples of which are as follows.

Distributed systems are used in online games, electronic banking, content delivery network services, healthcare industry, storage and access telemedicine, finance and commerce, GPS, cellular networks, etc.

Why is System Distribution necessary?

In a distributed system, the task is performed on different independent computers.

Despite it being difficult to deploy, maintain or manage, a distributed system is important.

The number of autonomous computers in the distributed system is increased to improve performance.

In such a way, the tasks can be divided and a better performance can be seen. And tasks can be completed faster.

With all the computers connected in a distributed system, data can be shared easily amongst themselves.

Even if it stops working due to a problem in one of its nodes, the rest of its nodes continue to work. Which makes no difference to the distributed system.
