It cannot match the performance and scalability if compared with modern file systems.
Global File System (GFS)
GFS is a shared disk file system. Which is mainly used in Linux OS. It can also be used according to the local file system.
GFS2 is the updated version of the original GFS. It has more features than the original GFS.
Both GFS and GFS2 file systems are available under the GNU General Public License.
Hierarchical file system (HFS)
It was developed to be used in Mac operating systems.
Which was later replaced by Mac OS Extended.
It was originally introduced in 1985 for floppy and hard disks. HFS can also be used in CD-ROMs.

FAT File System
The full form of FAT is "File Allocation Table".

Types of FAT File Systems

FAT12 was the most widely used version of the FAT file system.
It was introduced in 1980 with the first versions of DOS.
FAT16 (16-bit File Allocation Table)
This was the second implementation of FAT.
It was introduced in 1984 in PC DOS 3.0 and MS-DOS 3.0.
FAT32 (32-bit File Allocation Table)
This is the latest version of the FAT file system.
In this year 1996, Windows 95 was introduced for OSR2 / MS-DOS 7.1 users.
exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table)
exFAT was not the next version of FAT32.
It was introduced by Microsoft in 2006.
NTFS File System
The full form of NTFS is the "New Technology File System".
